Vice Minister Qu Dongyu, on behalf of Minister Han Changfu, met with Mr. Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, Minister of Agriculture and Forests of the Kingdom of Bhutan, and his delegation in Beijing on Oct. 30, 2016.
Vice Minister Qu briefed the Bhutanese side about the latest development in agriculture in China, particularly agricultural development at higher altitude area, and expressed the willingness of China to share experience and expertise in agricultural development with Bhutan. Vice Minister Qu suggested that the two sides consider the establishment of an agricultural cooperation mechanism to promote the cooperation and exchange in agricultural science and technology, protected agriculture and animal genetics and breeding, especially yak and horse breeding.
Mr. Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji also briefed the Chinese side about the latest development in agriculture in Bhutan and applauded China's achievementsin agricultural development and poverty alleviation. He expressed his full agreement with Vice Minister Qu's suggestions on strengthening the bilateral agricultural cooperation.
